Summer at the Schoolhouse

Registration opens at 8:00am on March 23, 2026!

We are getting so excited about our Summer at the Schoolhouse program this year! Once again, we will offer 5 sessions with a maximum class size of 20 students. Cost is $70 per child, and $65 for members of the Friends of the Cedar Falls Historical Society. Registration is first come, first served. The sessions are June 15-19, June 22-26, July 13-17, July 20-24, and July 27-31. Class runs from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. each day. 

Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, and forms will be made available here at that time. You will be able to register online (fillable form and PayPal payment), or in person. We don’t recommend mailing in registrations! Please note—there will be an additional fee of $2 per child for all PayPal transactions, including refunds! The last two years, we have filled up on the very first day of registration, and had about 10 kiddos on a wait-list! If you want a guaranteed spot for your child/ren, sign up right away! 

The 2026 exhibit at the Victorian House is called “A Cedar Falls Time Capsule.” We will incorporate that topic into our Summer at the Schoolhouse program with the theme “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun.” We will explore the concept of time; learn about time capsules and make one (to be opened in 2034, our Schoolhouse’s 125th birthday year); examine local, state, and national timelines; visit the Cedar Falls Time Capsule exhibit at the Victorian House Museum, and more. We will also do some interesting science experiments, make fun crafts, and OF COURSE we will practice writing with ink pens, use slates, play games, and make homemade ice cream.
